I have spent 15+ years on a progressive career path in the corporate environment, I have been through many executive leadership training programs and have found that very few incorporate information and techniques on mindfulness.
Given my own personal experiences with leadership in corporate America (both leading others and being led), I have a special passion for incorporating mindfulness techniques as a way to help leaders be more present and empathetic.
Too often people wrongfully assume that they don’t have the time or patience to practice mindfulness or meditation. As a busy working mother who likes to talk a lot I have always struggled to quiet my mind.
But I have learned that mindfulness is not about trying to stop your mind, but rather being aware of your thoughts and letting them flow. Dr. Kabat-Zinn has stated, “Mindfulness is simply paying attention in a particular way; on purpose, in the present moment and nonjudgementally.”
The employees are the heart of an organization and a strong leadership team is critical to the success of any business. In today’s busy and stressful workplace, mindfulness is a great tool to introduce to your leadership team.
One of the key messages in my Mindfulness workshops is to “Train Your Brain.” Just like you train your body to improve your physical fitness you need to train and condition your brain to improve your mental health too.
